Farm Life

There are several things I love about visiting the farm aside from the simplicity of life. Here goes...

Beyond The Sunset

Today is one of those mornings when I just feel the need to share my thoughts. So many of my countrymen have gone to a journey beyond the sunset because of an earthquake.

My heart grieves and prays for their families. Life indeed is too fleeting; we may be breathing now then all too soon gone.

There is no need to hate or compete or chaste richness now. We must be one in helping each other lead lives of simplicity and contentment.

May LOVE and PEACE, FORGIVENESS and FAITH be in every heart.

When I Was A Kid...

When I was a kid, I spent hours playing with leaves and flowers.
There were no high-tech gadgets and we simply played in the fields and along the streets.
There was not much danger of getting ran over by trucks and our little carefree feet played from sun up until sundown on school-free days.

hopping happily, happily hoping

The other day I spent time watching a grasshopper while waiting for the sun to rise. Yes I did, yes I sat there, and disturbed its happy resting on those yellow-orange petals.

Missing Home Sweet Home Philippines? Here is A Virtual Tour Back Home

I grew up walking along rice paddies, hearing birds chirping and playing with mud, dragonflies, flowers, climbing guava trees and listening to folk songs and humming them too.

Sampaguita

My late grandpa loved to sing! Oh how he loved to sing those "Ilocano" songs of his time. We'd be pulling peanuts in the field and he'd go "Dungdungwenkanto, unay uunay" (I will love you oh so much) and my grandma would chuckle and beg him to stop. The rest of us would be merrily laughing at them while continuing with our task. I must admit at times I actually loathed going to the farm to help out with farm chores because as a child all I wanted was to play! Back then there were no computers, no cellular phones, just nature and the beauty of it all was getting the benefit of exposure to good sunshine and fresh air! Had there been these kind of technology back then I am most certain my dear grandpa who loved to sing and tell stories would have posted a video of him in youtube or perhaps a gardening and even a cigar blog ; he lived to be around eighty years of age and I wonder whether I will have the chance to reach that age too.

Passing Happiness Around

Today I saw another child who once again made me feel so contented and happy. She seemed to be chanting while walking along the shore barefooted in comfortable loose clothes with hair freely swaying with the wind.

It was almost sunset and I was spending time at the surfing area with a good friend after visiting the wake of a high school batch mate's dad. As always stricken with grief at the news of someone traveling to the afterlife having experienced myself the pain of losing someone in this lifetime I was in a contemplative mood. I complained a lot about the sky not being royal blue this afternoon and my friend did not know whether to laugh at me or to scold me. I realized I was being unreasonable when my friend spotted this little girl who totally took my attention away from melancholy.

Sillag- Poro Point Festival of Lights 2012

The following shots were taken during the first ever SILLAG festival of lights held at Thunderbird Resorts Boardwalk, Poro Point, San Fernando City, La Union on April 28, 2012. Sillag is an Ilocano word which means "moonbeam" or "lunar illumination".The event was apparently meant to promote tourism in the North, a part of Bases Conversion and Development Authority's efforts to change the landscape of North and Central Luzon.

Part of the festivity was a lantern and fluvial parade....photos of which follow...pardon the quality of the shots because my digicam could simply not give justice to the beauty of the magical evening that fascinated this simple soul.

A Day After

Today I got my Mother's day present from nature in the form of  a surprise visit from a green, grinning friend who was more than willing to pose for my digital camera while comfortably resting on the hand of a female cousin...

First drops of Rain

The first drops of rain have made a lot of winged friends happy with every leaf turning luscious green...
watching one with earthen hue was enough to make me smile...shopping can never give me that  kind of happiness....

A Grateful Heart

In Life, we never get everything we want...
At times we fail and fall...
and there will be people who may not agree with us
...and in the process we could hurt each other...
Time will pass no matter what we do...
and the longer we keep the pain,
the longer we keep ourselves from growing

The Touch

I took the following shots of a butterfly with my digi-cam while about to start washing clothes...a tiny brown winged friend rested on my forearm...I asked my son to quickly hand me my ever ready camera in a very soft voice so as not to scare it away...surprisingly it stayed with me until I practically got tired manipulating my gadget with one hand...it must have been the flowery scent of the soap that attracted it but sometimes I'd like to truly believe butterflies are souls coming back to earth to touch our lives...It reminded me to plant more trees and flowers around the house and to conserve water...Needless to say I was ecstatic that I did not have to travel far to take these macro shots...I only needed to wash our clothes manually outside...It pays not be lazy at times, hehehe...and to be hands on in taking care of one's kiddos...we get to enjoy the best of both worlds...ours and theirs...blessed weekend my friends...Let's help save dear mother nature...Advanced Happy Mother's Day one and all....

Remnants of a Sunset

She was staring at nothing in particular. Her hair, black as night was softly dancing in the wind. The smell of the gentle breeze captivated her thoughts. Somewhere along the shore she saw someone scurrying towards her. She drew out a sigh, lifting both hands to gather her mane to her nape. Twilight was lurking. The sky was giving way to darkness. Tiny wings were passing over her head. She could hear them buzzing and feel them shadowing what was left of the light of day. Over the waters she threw pebbles, watched with fascination the formation of ripples. She blinked hearing a loud splash. Someone has created a thudding sound beside her.

Glorious Saturday

It has been said time and again that LIFE is a journey...
each morning is a gift and each person in our lives is a blessing...
Huge fluffy clouds, green leaves, blue skies, sunset and rainbow
...those are simply what makes this heart glad...
Traveling on land never bores me because it is a chance to watch the world
...sharing with you shots through our car windshield on one glorious Saturday...
