My Top Four Weight Loss Tips (That Actually Work)

Like most women, I have a love-hate relationship with my weight. Some days I’m happy, others I’m not. I don’t know whether it’s to do with social pressures or just feeling bloated some days, but I do know that it can be tough going. But over the years, I have picked up some tips - and they work. Forget about fad diets and miracle cures, if you want to lose weight, you are going to have to work for it, girl! Here are four things I have learned that you can start today.

See your doctor

Your first step is to arrange an appointment with your doctor. There is a broad range of treatments available that can help you, but you need to get the all clear first. Let's say you have a  psychological issue with food - you could investigate gastric band treatments. I’ve also heard about other, less invasive treatments. There has been a lot of noise about fat-reducing injections, for example. You can find out more at the Weight Loss Shot website. However, make sure you see your family doctor to arrange a proper care pathway. Also, don’t see these as quick fixes - they absolutely are not.

Getting to work

OK, so let’s assume that there is nothing to hold you back from losing weight other than yourself. And, let’s face it, that’s half the problem when it comes to getting started. The other half? It’s because to really lose weight - and keep it off - you have to change your entire lifestyle. It’s no good going on a crash diet or doing a few weeks of intense exercise - it just won’t work and is unsustainable. Healthy living needs to be for life - not just for after Christmas or leading up to your vacation. Realizing this is the only way you are going to succeed.

Eating healthier

Weight loss is a pretty simple concept. You consume fewer calories than use every day, and the weight will go. However, there is a catch. If you aren’t eating the right food, you could still keep the weight on. White bread, sugars, fats and dairy products are all unhelpful and are quickly turned into fat by the body. So fill up your calorie count with a broad diet consisting of lots of vegetables, some fruit, whole grain foods and protein. Not only will it help you lose weight, but it will also ensure your body has enough fuel to exercise. Speaking of which…

Exercise more

Your diet is the most efficient way of losing weight. However, exercise helps your body work better, and also builds your muscles up. The more muscle you have, the more fat you will burn off - it’s how the body works. So, although the exercise might have a minimal impact on reducing your calories, it can help your diet work more efficiently. Not only that, but you will start to feel great - and look a lot more refreshed and ready for life.

And that’s all there is to it, folks. Of course, it’s easier said than done - but as I mention above, the only person who can make it happen is you. So get out there and make it happen!
