Strengthen Your Brain Today

Your brain along with your heart is one of the most important organs in your body, and as such, you need to take good care of it. The best way to do this is by giving your brain regular new challenges that will build it up, make you smarter and improve your memory. This is even more important if you have suffered a brain injury which has weakened your most vital of organs.

Here are some simple things you can start doing to strengthen your brain today:

Subject Yourself to Stress

This might sound odd, but subjecting your brain to a little stress can help you to strengthen your brain and increase intelligence and creativity. All you have to do is put your mind to a creative task at the time of the day when you’re least alert and productive. So, if you’re a night owl, try tackling a puzzle in the early morning, and you’ll do your brain the world of good, unless you’re recovering from a serious brain injury, in which case, putting your brain under stress is probably a bad idea. It’ll be much better for you to use any brain injury compensation you’ve been awarded to invest in relaxation tools, good food, great doctors and perhaps, a subscription or two to some good memory games (see below).

Play Memory Games

Memory games like Brainsmart and Lumosity are great for strengthening the brain because they push you to improve your memory using techniques that have been proven to give results. Playing them fort just a few minutes each day will strengthen the ‘memory muscle’ making you smarter, better able to recall information and less likely to suffer from illnesses like dementia in the future.

Read Challenging Books

Reading books that take you out of your comfort zone, in genres that you wouldn’t usually touch is a great way to boost your brain power. Not only will you learn more about things you have no knowledge of, but the act of pushing yourself to understand new thoughts and concepts will engage your brain like never before so that you emerge smarter, stronger and quite simply better.

Take Up a New Hobby

Giving your attention to a new hobby will help to build new pathways in the brain, especially if you take on a manual task such as knitting or playing squash, Every time you give your brain and body a new task to master, you will create new associations, which your brain will need to grow to accommodate.

Eat Nutritious Meals

Your brain requires healthy nourishment if it is to work at its best. If you can eat a healthy balanced diet that meets your body’s caloric needs and which includes all of the major food groups, you’ll feel more alert, and you’ll be able to build memory and increase your level of attention with ease. Healthy fats from the likes of coconut oil and avocados are particularly good for feeding the brain, so don’t be afraid to add plenty of healthy fats to your diet.
