Are you the only person at home? If not, then someone on the inside can simply let you back in. All you need to do is alert them to the fact that you have, stupidly, left your keys in the house. Hopefully, if they have a conscience, they should do the right thing. Although, some people have been known to revel in the situation and rub salt in the wounds!

Look For An Open Window

When you are the only person in the house, the alternatives are fewer. Now, you have to use your nous and creativity to get back inside. Look at your property and see if there are any windows or openings you have left ajar. If there are, you can easily climb through without having to break a window or call a locksmith. If the window is high up, make sure you use ladders to gain access. Otherwise, you could have more to worry about than being locked out of your home.

Get A Credit Card

You don’t have to be a professional thief to use this method. Credit cards are a great tool because they can slip in between the door and the wall and disable the lock. Simply put, you can pick the lock with a credit card. Insert the card and hold it at a right angle to the door. Start to push the card while also bending the card away from the doorknob. Hopefully, this will move the latch away from the door jam and cause it to open.

If picking a lock isn’t your forte, there is a cruder option. Most people like to call a locksmith at this point. But, breaking a window can be cheaper, and it is just as effective. If it costs you less to replace the window, that is your best option. That way, you can gain access a lot quicker, too.

At this point, you are quickly running out of options. In fact, there is only one option left: call a locksmith.
