It’s finally the weekend; you have a couple of days off from work, and it’s raining. Not just a drizzle of rain either, there seems to be a full blown tropical rainstorm going on outside your front door.

After two hours of watching daytime television you have become incredibly bored and restless, but just don’t know what to do. For many people, rainy days are like Monday mornings – boring and unproductive.

But, just because it’s raining out, it doesn’t mean you have to end up bored, There are lots of things you can do to keep busy at home.

For our top tips to beating rainy day boredom, have a read of this.

Bake a cake

If you love to cook, spend the day baking. It doesn’t just have to be a cake; it can be anything you want. Perhaps there is a recipe you have always wanted to try, but have never had the time to make, or a favourite recipe that you haven’t made for years. Whatever you like to bake, take the time to make it.

If you can’t think of something you want to make, have a look in a cookbook or online and randomly select a recipe to try. Not knowing how something will turn out, can be a lot of fun.

Read a book

Is there a book on your nightstand that you have been meaning to read but just haven’t had the time to start? A wet day is the perfect excuse for settling down with a good book.

Make yourself a cup of tea, get comfortable and spend the day relaxing whilst immersing yourself in your book.

Have a movie day

Invite your friends or partner over for a movie marathon day. Pick a film series that you have been meaning to watch and commit to getting through each of the movies by the end of the day.

While watching movies all day may seem like a bit of a waste, as the weather is bad there isn’t much else you can do. So, you may as well open up a bottle of wine, share some nibbles and enjoy yourselves.

Play computer games

Is there a game you have meant to complete or a game you have heard everyone raving about but haven’t had a chance to try yet? Well, this is your chance. Spend the afternoon playing games on your computer or tablet.

Perhaps you have been wanting to play emoji words or fruit ninja but haven’t had a chance. Commit yourself to reaching at least level 50 or setting a new high score. If you get stuck, you can always go online and look at game app quiz cheats for the game you are playing.

Get crafty

Use your rainy day to be productive and create something for your home.

Perhaps you have an old piece of furniture lying around that could do with a re-paint. Spend the day upcycling an unloved piece of furniture – get in touch with your crafty side and really let loose.

Alternatively, you could make use of your old pictures and create a scrapbook, create your own homemade jewelry or paint a canvas. Get your craft materials out and spend the day immersing yourself in arts and crafts activities.

  1. I am enjoying healthy cakes, no flour no added sugar, I use ripe banana to sweeten and use kamote or almond or quinoa for flour :)
