A Must Have When Erasing Data: A Drive Scrubber

I am an avid fan of the show NCIS and can't wait for Season 11 to start. It amazes me to see the actors portray the dedication to solve a crime. I particularly like the character of Abby, (portrayed by Pauley Perrette) a highly intelligent forensic investigator tasked to recover evidence from bugs, hair, cloth, fibers.. and yes, even fragments of a hard drive.


I have always thought that a smashed computer is already rendered useless. Since I have been watching this show, it made me realize that my personal information is not totally deleted unless I wipe a hard drive. I can never imagine the damage it would do if I sold my old laptop without going through this process first. All my stuff would be at the mercy of a hacker if they opt to! It is a good thing that I was able to watch a re-run of NCIS before I put up an ad to sell any electronic gadget.




This just goes to prove that not all TV shows are worthless dramas. We can still learn a trick or two from them.
