The Future

She looked at the sunset with curious little eyes..
What lay beneath the waters..the sun's bidding rays?
Clouds, leaves, wind, sand...
How'd they get to be so lovely?
She stared at the sunset while I stared at her innocence
...and envied the blank sheet of years she still could write
As I left her with her thoughts I prayed and gave one last glance
At the future hers to muster
and ours to help build with guiding hearts and hands....
