5 Great Kitchen Appliances I Wouldn't be Without

As a mom, you need to keep an organised, functional kitchen. Let’s not pretend we all make our meals by hand, using natural ingredients though. We all use the microwave more than we might like to admit.

When time is tight, and the household is hungry, kitchen appliances become life-savers. I thought I’d share a few secrets with you, so here are the 5 best kitchen appliances I wouldn’t want to be without.

A Blender

There are two types of blender you need in your kitchen - a small hand blender and a bigger one. The hand blender is great for quick blending jobs. You can boil some vegetables, add some stock and get stuck in with your hand blender. Then, before you know it, you have a great soup!

The bigger blender can be used for all sorts of things. Maybe you want to make soup for the whole family or make a smoothie for the kids. It’s ideal.

Ice-Cream Maker

With the summer just around the corner, this should be your priority right now! Everyone loves ice-cream, especially on a hot, summer’s day. So, don’t buy the manufactured rubbish, make your own! If you have small kids, you can get them involved too.

Most of them are really easy to use too. You just throw in the ingredients and let the machine work its magic. You get the satisfaction of making it yourself, and it’s a lot cheaper than buying ice-cream from a shop.

Garbage Disposal

My Kenmore garbage disposal unit is a vital part of my life. A good unit is so much better than a plain old bin. It takes a lot of the work out of the process. You just through your waste down the gap, and it’s all sorted out.

The one problem is with blockages. But if it breaks, you can easily get hold of Kenwood accessories and repair parts to fix the problem. If you don’t have a garbage disposal already, you need one!

A Speed Peeler

When you’re a parent with kids running around your ankles, the last thing you want to be doing is standing around peeling potatoes. It’s so long-winded and tiring. And, if you’re anything like me, you’ll spend half the time nursing your wounds after peeling your hand instead of the potato.

Luckily, I discovered this simple invention - the speed peeler. It doesn't exactly what it says on the tin. It makes the whole process a lot quicker and a lot easier. They’re incredibly cheap too.

My Corkscrew

If I had to save just one item out of the five I’ve listed here, it’d be this one! When the day is over, and the kids have gone to bed, what more could you ask for than a nice glass of top quality wine? Everyone needs something to help them relax and reward them after a stressful day.

But what good is a bottle of wine without a corkscrew to open it with? Mine isn’t particularly fancy; it just does the job! You can get one with lots of bells and whistles but as long as it lets you get at the wine, it’s good enough, right?
