Day Of Prayer For Peace In Syria

I passed by these green hearts of nature on my way to work the other day. I was kinda late yet I just had to go back to where I saw the sunlight kissing those leaves and take a photo. The way those heart-shaped leaves hugged the tree where they miraculously thrive makes me think of many wondrous thoughts. It makes me feel so grateful for being alive. At certain parts of the world, people are dying and many are suffering from violence and hunger. My heart breaks seeing young ones breathing their last and gasping for air. What is happening? It baffles me that at this age when technology makes it easier for nations to communicate and aid each other it is still so difficult to determinate the best action to do. We have focused too much on that thing called "financial investment" and our education through the past years has centered on being financially stable. While I agree there is nothing wrong about economic progress and teaching our kids to save money and go after a materially prosperous future I caterwaul on the fact that our world now is one where Love, Prayer and reverence for the Almighty has somehow taken a back seat. Most of us before going to sleep and upon waking up in the morning grab our phones to check our e-mails and log in to social networking sites instead of talking to Someone to cleanse our thoughts and hearts. Prayer has somehow left our lives. Before we eat, our cameras swoosh above our food instead of laying our hands on them for blessing and thanks. Selfishness, greed and pride is slowly taking over our souls. We all want to become popular and to gain wealth. Whatever happened to humility and kindness? It is not easy to choose a life of simplicity, to forgive and choose peace instead of retaliation. Indeed there are evil forces out there which when not faced with LOVE in its purest form might lead the world into war. We can do something to protect the world from total chaos. Every little decision we make must be rooted in goodness. Share instead of turn a back, answer harshness with mildness...easier said than done yet there is nothing impossible to do that is coupled with PRAYER. On September 7 let us join the entire world in A Day of Prayer for Peace in Syria.....in our little ways we can make a difference....

  1. you said them very well Zen, indeed, technology and media has somehow ruled the world and the hearts, and yes, as long as there is battle for power, there will always be war, sadly. we can't change the whole world, but hopefully, we could live by example, and I know, you are! love you and miss you!!

  2. The human race has turned cold blooded. In some parts of the world, you can be punished for the mere mention of the word "God."

You're right, Zen. What we can do is pray. Pray to the one God, the Creator of all things.

Rest assured that I will be joining you in prayer on September 7th, on the eve of Mother Mary's feast day.

    :)

  4. Sometimes, I feel so apathetic because I avoid such topics...when deep inside I cry a lot for the people - victims of cruelty even if I don't know them. A prayer can bring forth a multitude of miracles...and because God is not far away from us - Acts 17:27

  8. You made a simple sight of scenery into a very important issue that we should all give thoughts into. It is very sad that things are happening now but some of it are written in the Bible so it would happen whether we like it or not.

  11. Like you, I get so stunned at the beauty of nature, especially those that rarely get some attention. Grass and leaves like that for example. True, we are blessed to be alive and well in our parts of the world while in other parts, it seems like World War 3 has already began. Tsk!

  13. We can't stop a war that will have to do with Syria. Propkesiad na kasi yan. Sooner or later a war in that country will materialize. All we can do is to pray for the hapless innocent war victims.
