Gardening and Simple Plumbing Fixes

Meet my gardening buddy Junpeow, our black dog who loves sleeping under our garden hose. He must be feeling so cool and comfortable below the water filled tubes. As a puppy I always spotted him there early in the morning.

But in the afternoons he would be sprawled with no care in the world on our Vietnam Rose carpeted lawn watching the world go by beside my pink Zinnias.

The hubby loves the colorful Vietnam Roses but does not fancy my Zinnias to my horrendous dismay. He asked me one weekend in the sweetest way to plant them somewhere else and so we did. Gathering the little pink Zinnias ready for transplantation he helped me dig on the soil on the western part of our home. As he pushed the shovel down water suddenly sprinkled all over us. He threw me that familiar "I told you this isn't a great idea"  stare. "So what do we do?" I shouted not knowing whether to enjoy the shower of water which was such a relief on a warm afternoon.  "Of course I have to turn off the water system!" he gasped as he ran to the back of the house. Returning with gadgets to fix the broken plastic pipes he was smiling at his own carelessness as he forgot there was a water pipe right in the very area where we started digging. "Not my fault," I whispered in between suppressed giggles as I handed him each equipment he asked for. I must admit Plumbing emergency  such as this is something out of my expertise and I was so glad the hubby was around. He took the time after to orient me and our son on simple plumbing repairs. He made sure we knew the tools needed as I am a stubborn student when it comes to gadgets. I saw a sigh of relief on his face as I identified the auger from the plunger, the wrench from the nose pliers etc. I now know where the specific shut off valves of our water system are as the first thing to do when there is a water leak is to shut off the water supply. When there is a problem with a particular fixture, one can close the valve of that fixture only which is usually located beneath the fixture and can be slowed by clockwise turning otherwise when it fails one has to shut down the main shut-off valve in the house. An expert highly reliable Katy Plumber  may be needed with more complex damages but with leaky faucets one could simply take off the leaky faucet with a screwdriver; remove the screw cap with an adjustable wrench. One may need to replace the washer to stop the leak or in some cases of washer less faucets it might be the "O" rings causing the leakage. A lot of patience, precision and care is needed for such repairs and I must again admit that I still  have to work my way on trying to fix a leak but now at least I have an idea how to take care of a Katy Water Heater and what to do first in case a sudden huge leak occurs from my constant diggings in the garden hahaha.

These are shots of our Zinnias which winged friends love to visit. The happiness of gardening is multiplied when one sees that critters are enjoying.

  6. Is Junpeow a Doberman or a Rottweiler? He is so cute! I have a soft spot for dogs. MY dad used to teach me about plumbing, too, and I'd be sooo confused. Plumbing isn't for girls! =)

  10. I love gardening. My father taught me when i was a kid. And until now, I still grow native orchids. But space is a big problem for me.. Living in a city makes it really very hard to find a bigger place. Aside from space, the weather here is so hot, it made my orchids unable to bear more flowers. I wish I can have a beautiful garden like yours sis Kulasa. And your photos are amazing! Love it!

  26. That is one cute puppy and I must say I can totally relate why he likes it so much under that reel on a hot summer day. I would stay there too if I could squeeze right underneath the hose. Anyway, you were lucky to have escaped what could have been a man-made disaster. On the other hand, you would have had instant water sprinklers on your garden. I met with a similar accident before and I immediately called plumbers in Sydney because I know for sure one mistake is sure to be more than enough and the experts will help settle my first one and prevent future reoccurrences.

  27. Wow! Nice information. There is wonderful on "Cording and simple". I am intimidated by the value of in progression on this website. There are a lot of excellent assets here. Definitely I will visit this place again soon.

I think, Do you struggle with answers to prayer? Do you question the power or prayer in your life? If so, read on and learn how the Lord blessed my wife and I after my stupid decisions got us lost in a snow storm and we walked to our miracle rescue - an answer to prayer!
