Grandma's House

     The other week my maternal side family gathered at my late grandma's house to pray for our ancestors and reunite with uncles and cousins whose busy lives make it hard for us to catch up. There is nothing like sweet family smiles that could relieve stress and boredom. Our grandma's house remains preserved for the many treasured memories in it to stay alive. The kitchen cabinets though need immediate repair using  1/2" overlay cabinet hinges , the cupboards are close to collapsing and definitely need replacement. The carpentry expertise of my uncles I am sure will get the place looking neat in no time. 

SILLAG 2013

     Yesterday I dragged my lazy feet to Thunderbird Resorts to witness this year's SILLAG Poro Point Festival of Lights. I was feeling a bit tired in the morning but I couldn't miss the fun, the lights and the union of people from all walks of life to celebrate the culmination of La Union's 163rd Foundation Anniversary. 

Forever

He was staring at her. From the altar he kept his gaze locked with hers. The figure of angels, cherubs and clouds witnessed their silent chatter. In a little while he will ring a bell with his right hand signaling the crowd to stand. He did the task with excitement and anticipation of one moment. 

The Gift of Love and Titanium Rings

Roses, chocolates and titanium rings are symbols of love and adoration that could melt every woman's heart. A titanium ring with an engraved name and a hearty message would definitely make this woman's life complete. Technology has made it easier to order online and to make ring specifications like whether to have stones on the ring or to use gold, diamond, silver or tungsten. Items on sale are hard to resists too! Not that I ain't happy as happy can be as of this writing but somehow I would love to one sweet day march down the aisle and say "I do," for the second time to the man I married in a civil ceremony more than ten years ago and slip a Titanium Ring on his finger witnessed by the significant people in our lives. 

Sillag Poro Point Festival of Lights

      The following shots were taken during the first ever SILLAG festival of lights held at Thunderbird Resorts Boardwalk, Poro Point, San Fernando City, La Union on April 28, 2012. Sillag is an Ilocano word which means "moonbeam" or "lunar illumination".The event was apparently meant to promote tourism in the North, a part of Bases Conversion and Development Authority's efforts to change the landscape of North and Central Luzon.  

                           

Best Speaker Stands and Love Songs

     Love songs, wine, roses and sweet nothings are what I would love to experience next Valentine's Day. Apparently we were too early at the resto for the night of singing and dancing. I am already imagining listening to the beat of romantic guitar and piano melodies all played with the best speaker stands  and even that of hubby's soulful voice. He loves singing to me in the car, while walking home, while working together at home and I could feel how good it would be to have him serenading me on a special day. I think we need not wait for next year's Heart's Day because each day spent with the one we love indeed becomes Valentine.

Grand Electric Float Parade

     The province of La Union, surfing capital of Northern Philippines is celebrating its 163rd foundation anniversary. In line with this occasion a Grand Electric Float Parade was held on February 27. I had a great time listening to music being played and watching the illuminated floats parading along the streets of Balaoan, La Union.

     Sharing with you shots from the said event. The floats were mostly made of indigenous materials and featured each town's main product. I still can not make up my mind as to which float is my favorite. Be the judge.

My Teenage Son's Plea for A Fender Mustang On Sale

   



My teenage son has been playing the guitar through his smartphone. I never even thought there'd be an application for playing music with one's phone and I was not surprised one morning when he asked me whether I could purchase one of those fender mustang for sale  he learned of online. I smiled, scratched my head, looked at him who was raising his eyebrows and giving me his signature  "mommy please say yes" facial expression. He has remained on top of his class for the past semesters and his dad and I are super proud of his exemplary achievements in school that I don't think we could ever say no to music being played inside the house with only the best guitar model and guitar amplifier in the market. So, without all the fuss and the drama, I said YES, fender mustang you will have! My motherly heart knows my son dreams of being a rockstar someday and I could only smile for now at the thought. Rockstar or just a trying hard music player I love him with all my heart and soul.
