Welcome to Chef's Home (A Taste of Asia)

I've heard so many great things about this place long before I finally got the chance to visit - Baguio City's finest to date being recently chosen as one of Esquire's Best Restaurants  ! Proud to say the owner is a kin. I seldom brag but this is a must haha, my cousin pretty, talented Gina married to Chef Alvin a former five-star hotel chef and a native of Penang manages Chef's Home with the sweetest smile and most melodious voice. They met in Phuket, Thailand and finally decided to stay in the Philippines for good. I'd say theirs is a partnership made in heaven.

Cylinder Clamps and The Deep Blue Sea

It is almost the third month of the year and I am proud to say I am still hanging on to my "health is wealth" pledge. I've been jogging and taking brisk walks regularly plus eating a balanced diet. One of my first around town walks led me to the beach where my dad used to go fishing on weekends when he isn't busy working with tools and his other stuff at home. I used to call him MacGyver because he loved fixing just about anything professionally as well as at home. Had he been alive to this day I'd buy him one of those efficient
pneumatic swing cylinder clamps for his work-holding needs. A lot of new tools have come out of the market and sometimes I wonder how he would have loved utilizing them. One thing I am sure of is that he would love to take those early morning and afternoon walks with me to the beach where the world seems to be so serene and where everything seems possible.

Sharing with you my most recent shots from the fishing community in our town.

Waiting

She was, standing at the podium, looking at the crowd, waiting for him to appear. Her eyes scanned the aisles, the corners of the vast ground. Her heart ached, longed to see that face from long ago. She breathed a sigh and went on to address the throng. Ears listened to her speak, some knew her truly, some never knew her at all until today. Yet the only person she wanted to see was not there. She uttered the words in a determined  well modulated voice, the kind that could make one freeze, and look at the origin of thoughts. It was weird she realized that as she perceived her own voice echoing in the hall she did not recognize herself. Was she the same person once here, unknown, passed by and never given a second glance. How long has it been since she was plain her? How long has it been since she spent time with that one person who made all the difference?

Paris Wait for Me

The sky turning pinkish to purple into gray with wind blowing on my cheeks and someone holding my hand whispering three words I treasure most and the view of the tallest structure in Paris I am most certain would light up my heart like no other moment would.

Bacnotan My Hometown: St Michael The Archangel Parish Church

One of the most visited landmarks in my hometown is the St. Michael the Archangel Parish church. The church is said to have been established in 1583 by Augustinian mission and the structure built sometime in 1598.  "What might be the second church was built from 1817 to 1819 under the supervision of Fr. Juan Zugasti (OSA). This was damaged during the 1860 earthquake and Fr. Saturnino Pinto (OSA) initiated its restoration in 1870 that was completed during the administration of Fr. Bernardo Gonzales (OSA) in 1887."
