Sillag- Poro Point Festival of Lights 2012

The following shots were taken during the first ever SILLAG festival of lights held at Thunderbird Resorts Boardwalk, Poro Point, San Fernando City, La Union on April 28, 2012. Sillag is an Ilocano word which means "moonbeam" or "lunar illumination".The event was apparently meant to promote tourism in the North, a part of Bases Conversion and Development Authority's efforts to change the landscape of North and Central Luzon.

Part of the festivity was a lantern and fluvial parade....photos of which follow...pardon the quality of the shots because my digicam could simply not give justice to the beauty of the magical evening that fascinated this simple soul.

Android phones, motherhood and growing old

Last night the kiddos weirdly chose to sleep beside each other instead of the younger one occupying the top of the double deck.

Hearts

We find true love at the most unexpected places and sometimes we fail to recognize it because we are blinded by what other people think and say and though love may seem elusive to some, it remains the most powerful emotion in all the world and when it speaks, there seems to be no need for words....if you feel as though it hasn't come into your life yet, just wait, just keep the faith and open your eyes to its true magnificence...you'd see LOVE in the eyes of the people who truly care for you...and I bet for all of us, there is more than one person who'd say they LOVE us more than words can say...let's do, spread the LOVE...

Close to You

~Love, it definitely is the most wonderful unspoken word

but say it, before the person closes his or her eyes forever because when you lose that chance, it may never

come again~

A Day After

Today I got my Mother's day present from nature in the form of  a surprise visit from a green, grinning friend who was more than willing to pose for my digital camera while comfortably resting on the hand of a female cousin...

Home Sweet Home

The rainy season has officially started on my side of the world weeks ago and this means one thing for those like me living in the rural areas..."rice planting time".... I love staring at the green scenery around our house as the rice paddies are filled with slender stalks that merrily sway with the wind.

They need enough amount of water to thrive until the time they are transplanted in rows that to me look magical because I know that farmers have to toil from sun up to sun down to keep them viable until they are ready for harvest and then transformed into that soft, chewy white carbohydrate eaten best in moderate amount with native viands.

The following are shot on the rice fields surrounding our home sweet home. No, I do not own these lands but I fervently wish one day farming wont be as difficult as it is now here. I remain a full pledged citizen of this country I so dearly love and no matter where I might be years from now if God and time allow I will remain that girl who loves eating rice with clean bare hands.
